About the role
- Provide support to end users in the organization on how to use various types of software programs efficiently and effectively in fulfilling business objectives
- Troubleshoot applications and software for all internal customers, such as operations, development, and other business units
- Assist in the design, delivery, and improvement of in-house software applications, training programs and related courseware
- Responsible for writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications
- Research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle
- Analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required
- Assist developers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and development of software programs and applications
- Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications
- Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging
- Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts
- Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades
- Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems
- Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems
- Communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, development teams, end users, and unit leaders
- Maintain and enhance performance of all new and existing software and applications across the organization
- Participate in the design, development, and delivery of software development training programs and individual classes
- Attendance is an essential function of the position.
Requirements
- At least four years of verifiable related experience
- Post-secondary degrees from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or a related IT-field may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis
- A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees
- Working knowledge/experience involving the following programming languages: PHP, Oracle PL/SQL, and/or Java
- Knowledge of relational database designs
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments
- Ability to work independently, and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Very strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to be creative, to use sound judgment, and to display foresight to identify potential problems in design/specifications and assigned application software systems
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Understanding of basic project management principles
- Ability to conduct research to resolve issues related to assigned job duties and responsibilities.
- Highly self-motivated and directed
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
