About the role
- Serves as the District’s lead authority on access management policies, standards, and practices
- Reviews and participates in meetings associated with permit submittals affecting access to the State Highway System
- Manages and oversees the District’s Access Management Program
- Provides technical guidance and policy interpretation regarding driveway connections, median openings, spacing standards and alternative access solutions
- Reviews and evaluates access permit applications that impact the State Highway System
- Supervises employees by communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating them
- Plans and directs workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization
- Performs engineering review and analysis of applications for access permits and associated traffic Impact studies for compliance with Florida Statues 335-18, Rules 14-96 and 14-97
- Represents Traffic Operations at public meetings
Requirements
- Knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices
- Knowledge of management principles and practices
- Knowledge of traffic operations analysis and study techniques
- Knowledge of FDOT Design Standards
- Knowledge of traffic signal timing and phasing
- Skills in effective oral communications
- Skills in effective written communications
- Skills in problem solving
- Skills in the use of personal computers and ability to use Microsoft Office
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, design standards and manuals
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret engineering data
- Ability to manage workload to produce on time resolutions to problems

- Ability to effectively supervise others
