Operations

• The OPS Family Support Worker provides breastfeeding education and support to Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) clients
• Educate WIC pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum mothers and family members on breastfeeding-related issues
• Provide basic breastfeeding information and support to WIC mothers
• Assist in breastfeeding classes and facilitate support groups
• Maintain the breastfeeding warmline after hours; triage, give appointments and/or counsel as appropriate
• Document breastfeeding contacts in the FL-Wise system
• Manage caseload of assigned WIC clients and contact clients according to established procedures
• Coordinate services for clients and make referrals to appropriate agencies
• Assist the local WIC agency in outreach, promoting breastfeeding
• Attend mandatory and scheduled trainings
