About the role
- Monitor and removal of invasive, non-native animal and plant species
- Control of cats and Burmese python, along with other non-native reptile species
- Identification and removal of exotic plants, including removal by hand and the use of herbicides
- Clean and maintain equipment used in field daily
- Perform survey and assessment work as needed
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of Florida Keys’ invasive exotic animal and plant species
- Experience applying herbicide to invasive plants
- Experience conducting wildlife surveys
- Basic GPS and GIS skills
- Basic use of personal computers
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to frequently push, pull and/or carry more than 40 pounds
- Ability to work 40 hours a week with variable schedule, including irregular start/end times
