About the role
- Analyze transportation and logistics data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings
- Execute daily shipment planning and execution of tasks aligned with the operational workflow and service expectations of the role
- Collaborate with carriers, 3PLs, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods
- Participate in a rotational weekend on-call schedule to support transportation operations and ensure business continuity
- Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders on shipment or vendor issues
- Support cross-functional projects to enhance company performance
- Lead initiatives to optimize routing, mode selection, and carrier performance
- Support strategic planning, including network design, freight forecasting, and budget development
- Manage freight payment and manual invoice processes
- Analyze carrier and vendor performance to identify service gaps and recommend improvements
- Report on key performance indicators (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of data from vendors and third-party providers
- Deliver ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support KPI improvement initiatives
- Provide support for transportation carrier selections from annual RFPs and mini-bids
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across transportation operations
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership with actionable insights and recommendations
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in transportation analysis, logistics, distribution or supply chain operations
- A team-oriented, collaborative approach
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Incorta, SQL, Tableau)
- Knowledge of freight modes (LTL, FTL, intermodal, parcel) and carrier management
- Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional projects
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Analytics or a related field (preferred)
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
- Experience with TMS platforms (e.g., Oracle)
- Experience in a high-volume, multi-modal transportation environment
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Project management of small- and medium-scale technical and change management initiatives
- Certification in transportation or supply chain (e.g., CTL, APICS, PMP) (preferred)
