About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supporting the environmental component of multi-disciplinary projects
- Supporting the preparation of environmental documents for all phases of transportation projects from planning through to construction
- Maintaining effective communication and liaison with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to collect information in order to identify and address issues
- Coordinating public consultation programs, including open houses
- Analyzing input from multi-disciplinary teams and consultants
- Interacting with clients, regulators and stakeholders
- Writing reports, proposals and presentations
- Following quality assurance/quality control, and health and safety requirements.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated working knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation, including environmental assessment legislation, the MTO Class EA for Provincial Transportation Facilities, and the Municipal Class EA process
- Experience in or a solid understanding of the consulting industry in a multidisciplinary environment
- Demonstrated experience with the items listed in the “responsibilities” section
- Ability to synthesize and analyze data
- Proven and demonstrated high-quality technical writing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, Biology/Ecology, or a related field
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in environmental planning roles, which may include project management, project coordination, environmental regulatory applications, and client interaction (desired but not required)
