About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in conducting transportation planning studies, including traffic impact studies, traffic operations analyses, crash analyses, and speed studies
- Support Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering (TPTE) portions of Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning and Environmental Linkages studies, coordinating with other disciplines
- Participate in traffic data collection programs and analyze collected data
- Contribute to iterative roadway design processes alongside roadway and structural engineers
- Prepare materials for public outreach meetings and facilitate clear visual communication of technical concepts for public audiences
- Perform microsimulation and mesoscopic modeling, integrating findings into final project recommendations
- Draft technical memoranda and comprehensive reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of TPTE principles and best practices
- Familiarity with TPTE standards, codes, and requirements
- Understanding of National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) studies and guidelines
- Experience with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro and HCS
- Experience with VISSIM, ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Proficiency with standard business software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, or a related field
- Minimum of 1 years of professional experience is preferred
- Engineering in Training (EIT) license, successful completion of the FE exam, or ability to obtain EIT within six months of employment
