About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support engineering teams on large infrastructure design projects and pursuits in the New York City Metropolitan area.
Work under direct supervision of a Design Manager or Senior Structural Engineer.
Develop project design deliverables including design criteria, contract design documents, design specifications, quantities and related calculations.
Perform calculations independently using relevant analysis and design software.
Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
Help resolve complex technical problems and exercise independent decision making.
Perform construction phase services on behalf of the Designer of Record.
Mentor and monitor work by Structural Designers.
Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Licensed Professional Engineer license in the State of NY.
Proficiency in software such as STAAD, SAP, RISA, PCA Structure Point Suite, and similar.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, OpenBuildings and/Autodesk Construction Cloud, and MicroStation.
Proficient knowledge of structural design codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience with agencies such as MTA, PANYNJ, NJ Transit, Amtrak or other public agencies is desired.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum 5 years of experience in structural design.
