About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support engineering teams on large infrastructure design projects and pursuits in the New York City Metropolitan area.
  • Work under direct supervision of a Design Manager or Senior Structural Engineer.
  • Develop project design deliverables including design criteria, contract design documents, design specifications, quantities and related calculations.
  • Perform calculations independently using relevant analysis and design software.
  • Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
  • Help resolve complex technical problems and exercise independent decision making.
  • Perform construction phase services on behalf of the Designer of Record.
  • Mentor and monitor work by Structural Designers.
  • Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
  • Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Licensed Professional Engineer license in the State of NY.
  • Proficiency in software such as STAAD, SAP, RISA, PCA Structure Point Suite, and similar.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, OpenBuildings and/Autodesk Construction Cloud, and MicroStation.
  • Proficient knowledge of structural design codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with agencies such as MTA, PANYNJ, NJ Transit, Amtrak or other public agencies is desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural design.
