About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Understand and work in compliance with health and safety rules and regulations
- Engages in design development through verbal, written, and visual methods
- Supports or leads project coordination meetings
- Participates in client project requirement meetings
- Assists with developing and managing project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule
- Client facing position; attending client meetings that may be remote
- Leads or works on multiple projects
- Develops instrumentation and controls deliverables
- Participates in process safety assessments and design sessions
- Evaluates, selects, specifies, and designs instrumentation systems or products
- Designs facility industrial networks
- Develop instrument location plans and cable routing layouts
- Specify and select fire, gas, smoke, and heat detection systems
- Field instrumentation specifications and material requisition development
- Reviews vendor documentation for instrumentation and control equipment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Self-starter, with ability to handle change and work independently
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Previous experience as a Lead Engineer on engineering/construction projects
- Experience in underground mine design is a strong asset
- Demonstrated leadership skills and project engineering experience
- Ability to mentor junior staff members
- Willingness to travel to client sites or other Stantec offices (~10% travel)
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in a related engineering field (Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Electronics)
- 10+ years of experience in engineering, design, and construction in heavy industry sectors
- PE Licensed in Texas or Arizona, or the ability to acquire one
