About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Responsible for large projects of high complexity
Leads an engineering Team responsible for evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering all structural engineered systems or products for a project
Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats
Utilizes technologies in development of three dimensional models of building’s structural systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers
Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owners and contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors
Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating
Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers
Develops project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects
Supervises and mentors junior level staff

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong knowledge of structural design codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318 and/or ACI 350, TMS 402, AISC 360)
Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
Strong knowledge of structural systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards
Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production
Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness
Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
Requires producing 3D models and 2D structural engineering drawings using Bentley Structural and Microstation, or Revit and AutoCad
Requires experience using structural engineering/finite element analysis software such as STAAD, RAM, SAP2000, RISA
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering, Licensed Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois is required
Minimum of 7 years of experience
