About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for large projects of high complexity
  • Leads an engineering Team responsible for evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering all structural engineered systems or products for a project
  • Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats
  • Utilizes technologies in development of three dimensional models of building’s structural systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers
  • Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owners and contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors
  • Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers
  • Develops project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects
  • Supervises and mentors junior level staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong knowledge of structural design codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318 and/or ACI 350, TMS 402, AISC 360)
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of structural systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production
  • Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Requires producing 3D models and 2D structural engineering drawings using Bentley Structural and Microstation, or Revit and AutoCad
  • Requires experience using structural engineering/finite element analysis software such as STAAD, RAM, SAP2000, RISA
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering, Licensed Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois is required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience
