Senior Interior Designer
StantecSenior Interior Designer at Stantec responsible for translating client needs into effective design strategies. Collaborates with team on varied aspects of interior design including space planning and material selection.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Capable of taking on the primary role in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, studies, and other visual formats
- Works directly with the project team in development of designs, presentations, and documentation
- Develops space planning, block planning, and adjacency diagrams in coordination with project program
- Conceptualizes and develops interior design from both a functional and aesthetic perspective in concert with a client’s requirements, budget, and program
- Participates in the development of the program, vision, and other pre-design efforts including client and consultant meetings
- Prepares and revises documentation in various project phases to support design intent
- Utilizes BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of interiors, their components and information for Construction Documentation
- Interprets and applies building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies
- Team player including sharing knowledge and pitching in for deadlines when needed
- Proactively solicits input from team members and seek guidance to address challenges
- Advocates for design excellence and creativity within the practice of interior design
- Actively engages in communication and collaboration in interdisciplinary teams
- Investigates technology and operations to improve efficiencies
- Communicates openly, honestly, and effectively, with respect and courtesy
- Assists in the evaluation and selection of interior systems and materials
- Responsible for participating in a project team setting and design critiques and pin-ups
- Participates in employee performance reviews
- Demonstrates a commitment to the profession and the firm by participating in a professional organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience with Education, Science and Technology, and Workplace preferred but not required

- Hand sketches and/or uses other tools to communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively
- Actively participates and collaborates in a project team setting through all phases of design
- Manages time to meet project budget and schedule outlined by Project Manager
- Holds accountability for design and implementation of project milestones
- Offers and receives criticism and responds appropriately and professionally
- Ability to conduct space planning, block planning, and adjacencies in coordination with building programs
- Knowledge and application of accessibility codes, applicable building codes
- Knowledge of building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards are expected
- Understanding of all phases of Interior Design document production
- General understanding of the relationship between drawings and specifications
- Requires strong skilled comprehension in Revit
- Requires comprehension in Microsoft Office Suite, and Photoshop; experience with SketchUp, Newforma, Bluebeam, InDesign and most recent modeling software preferred
- Integrates the design principles that impact the human experience of interior spaces into all projects
- Exhibits maturity and cultural awareness internally and externally
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interior Design or related field is required
- IIDA accreditation is preferred
- Pursuing Interior Design Licensure is preferred, licensure not required
- Minimum of seven years related experience is required
- LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred
