About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Executing environmental permitting strategy, developing regulatory strategy
- Conducting environmental field surveys, including wetland, forest stand, and/or critical area resource assessments
- Preparing permit applications, including Section 404/401 permits and Joint Permit Applications
- Preparing technical reports for and managing coordination with various environmental agencies
- Task coordination related to wetland delineations, state water determinations, resource protection areas
- Leading and preparing Forest Conservation Plan, Critical Area, and Tier II submissions
- Performing quality assurance/quality control reviews of environmental deliverables
- Supporting and ensuring implementation of Stantec Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of Maryland state and US federal laws and regulations
- Skilled with a “hands-on” individual experience in managing environmental permitting applications
- Skilled in verbal and written communications, including advanced technical writing abilities
- Skilled at prioritizing, organizing, managing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously
- Skilled with computer applications and functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; CADD and GIS are a plus
- Ability to prepare, read and interpret scientific/technical documents
- Ability to perform work accurately in a detail-oriented environment and meet project schedules, deadlines, and budgets
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and mentor/train staff as needed
- Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Studies, Policy, Planning, Geology, or related discipline preferred
- 8+ years of experience specific to regulatory practice in the environmental field
- Maryland Forest Conservation Act Qualified Professional, Certified Arborist, and/or Professional Wetland Scientist or related certifications preferred
