About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Executing environmental permitting strategy, developing regulatory strategy
Conducting environmental field surveys, including wetland, forest stand, and/or critical area resource assessments
Preparing permit applications, including Section 404/401 permits and Joint Permit Applications
Preparing technical reports for and managing coordination with various environmental agencies
Task coordination related to wetland delineations, state water determinations, resource protection areas
Leading and preparing Forest Conservation Plan, Critical Area, and Tier II submissions
Performing quality assurance/quality control reviews of environmental deliverables
Supporting and ensuring implementation of Stantec Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines

Requirements

What you’ll need

Knowledge of Maryland state and US federal laws and regulations
Skilled with a “hands-on” individual experience in managing environmental permitting applications
Skilled in verbal and written communications, including advanced technical writing abilities
Skilled at prioritizing, organizing, managing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously
Skilled with computer applications and functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; CADD and GIS are a plus
Ability to prepare, read and interpret scientific/technical documents
Ability to perform work accurately in a detail-oriented environment and meet project schedules, deadlines, and budgets
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and mentor/train staff as needed
Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Studies, Policy, Planning, Geology, or related discipline preferred
8+ years of experience specific to regulatory practice in the environmental field
Maryland Forest Conservation Act Qualified Professional, Certified Arborist, and/or Professional Wetland Scientist or related certifications preferred
