About the role

  • Lead permitting strategy, environmental assessment, application preparation, and technical support for projects across Georgia
  • Manage diverse projects and key client relationships across residential, commercial, energy, water resources, roadway, and pipeline projects
  • Lead permitting efforts at local, state, national, and federal levels and coordinate with agencies including USACE and Georgia agencies
  • Ensure compliance with NEPA, Endangered Species Act (ESA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and other environmental regulations
  • Coordinate agency communications, oversee technical assessments, and guide project teams through execution
  • Initiate, prepare, and review proposals and client contracts, including fee estimation and project setup
  • Oversee project delivery, project controls, client satisfaction, and contract management
  • Prepare work plans, assemble project teams, delegate tasks, and ensure timely completion and scope compliance
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance and safety plans for assigned projects
  • Mentor early career and mid-level staff; potential supervision of staff

Requirements

  • Strong background in environmental permitting, impact assessments, and water quality
  • Experience performing wetland delineations and habitat evaluations for protected species
  • Familiarity with Georgia-specific processes (USACE Savannah District, Stream Buffer Variance, GDOT protocols)
  • Industry connections in energy, residential, or commercial sectors, especially Atlanta metro
  • Deep understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations (NEPA, ESA, CWA, Section 404, Section 10 RHA)
  • Professional certifications preferred: Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Wildlife Biologist, Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission/Georgia EPD Erosion and Sediment certifications
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with wetland and listed species permitting in Georgia
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience providing or managing technical services in a professional services setting (experience in Georgia required)
  • Experience managing and providing environmental consulting services to project developers for siting, design, and permit applications
  • Local, state, and federal compliance and environmental permitting experience required
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a client-facing role (including business development and/or client management)
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in environmental science, biological resources or closely related field
  • Ability to work in typical office environment and perform field work in inclement weather
  • Mentorship or supervisory experience preferred
