About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare construction plans, estimates, and other deliverables for transportation projects
- Prepare project designs and deliverables in compliance with documented commitments, standards, and quality assurance practices
- Work within design team while cognizant of project scopes, schedules, budgets
- Follow all in-house procedures related to documentation of designs and process flow
- Attend and document project/client meetings with agenda and/or notes/minutes
- Use knowledge of general concepts of engineering elements through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects that focus on transportation systems such as highways, streets, bridges, tunnels, drainage structures, roadway lighting, airports, railroads, and commuter trains
- Assist team in preparing engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions
- Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices
- Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer
- Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications
- Perform field work related to construction activities as required
- Provide work leadership and training to more junior professional and technical staff and provides technical guidance to less experienced professionals or technicians assigned to work on a common project
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering with emphasis in Civil, Transportation or Structural Engineering is required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in State of Ohio is required
- Minimum of five years of related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
