About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and prepare complex engineering designs, plans, and drawings for a variety of projects, including urban and rural roadways, highways, and intersections.
Apply advanced knowledge of transportation engineering principles and stay current on evolving methods and technologies.
Assist with client production.
Attend and assist in client/contractor/stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals. Coordinate effectively with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
Responsible for the design, plan production and quality reviews of assigned projects.
Supervise and mentor engineers, CAD staff, and junior team members, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania required.
Proven ability to solve complex problems using sound judgment, creativity, and innovation.
Ability to review the work of others for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design standards.
Highly organized with excellent time management skills and a commitment to meeting project deadlines and budgets.
Collaborative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a positive attitude and a passion for team success.
Working knowledge of PennDOT design criteria, design manuals, and standards.
Familiar with MicroStation as well as relevant software programs which may include InRoads/OpenRoads, AutoTURN, and ASTA.
Familiarity with PennDOT ECMS, URMS, AutoTAB, PCIT, and EPS interfaces.
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in highway design and plan preparation for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Experience in highway design for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission a plus.
