About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for marine structures and other port-related projects of varying complexity
  • Leads the development of proposals for port development projects
  • Develops project work plans and ensures execution through oversight and management of the project team
  • Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all structural engineered systems or products for a project
  • Engages in the development of a design through analysis, design, drawings, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats
  • Prepares and revises documentation through various project phases including site plans, sections, diagrams, and details
  • Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors
  • Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents
  • Participates in constructability reviews
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers
  • Prepares project reports and feasibility studies
  • Develops project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects
  • Manages project schedules, budgets and client engagement
  • Oversees and manages multiple projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineering license in Texas
  • 15+ years of progressive ports & marine civil and structural engineering and project management experience
  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable port and marine terminals standards and guidelines
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of marine structural systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production
  • Experience with STAAD software for structural modeling
  • Strong project management skills including oversight of project teams' budget and schedule performance
