About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Responsible for marine structures and other port-related projects of varying complexity
Leads the development of proposals for port development projects
Develops project work plans and ensures execution through oversight and management of the project team
Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all structural engineered systems or products for a project
Engages in the development of a design through analysis, design, drawings, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats
Prepares and revises documentation through various project phases including site plans, sections, diagrams, and details
Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors
Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating
Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents
Participates in constructability reviews
Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers
Prepares project reports and feasibility studies
Develops project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects
Manages project schedules, budgets and client engagement
Oversees and manages multiple projects

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Professional Engineering license in Texas
15+ years of progressive ports & marine civil and structural engineering and project management experience
Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable port and marine terminals standards and guidelines
Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
Strong knowledge of marine structural systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards
Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production
Experience with STAAD software for structural modeling
Strong project management skills including oversight of project teams' budget and schedule performance
