About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the planning and design of a wide range of projects for transit, industrial, freight, and passenger/commuter rail clients
  • Perform various engineering design tasks under supervision
  • Develop design through sketches, 3D models, and visual formats
  • Prepare engineering design package documentation
  • Collaborate with senior engineers/designers for project management
  • Work within multi-disciplinary teams on project designs
  • Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and agency personnel
  • Prepare engineering feasibility studies and monitor project progress

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to perform field activities safely
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required and ability to be licensed in other states as needed
  • Demonstrated experience in MicroStation V8i, InRoads, and OpenRail
  • Thorough knowledge of AREMA, Class I Railroad, and agency design standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in railway engineering and design
