About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support the planning and design of a wide range of projects for transit, industrial, freight, and passenger/commuter rail clients
Perform various engineering design tasks under supervision
Develop design through sketches, 3D models, and visual formats
Prepare engineering design package documentation
Collaborate with senior engineers/designers for project management
Work within multi-disciplinary teams on project designs
Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and agency personnel
Prepare engineering feasibility studies and monitor project progress

Requirements

What you’ll need

Ability to perform field activities safely
Professional Engineer (PE) license required and ability to be licensed in other states as needed
Demonstrated experience in MicroStation V8i, InRoads, and OpenRail
Thorough knowledge of AREMA, Class I Railroad, and agency design standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Strong oral and written communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in railway engineering and design
