About the role

  • The entry-level Environmental Compliance Monitor provides field-based environmental compliance monitoring and inspection services on active construction projects.
  • This role supports construction phase environmental compliance by conducting site inspections, documenting conditions, identifying noncompliance, and coordinating corrective actions in accordance with applicable permits, plans, and regulatory requirements.
  • Environmental Compliance Monitors work under the direction of a team leader or project manager to support regulatory requirements through consistent, high-quality field observations and reporting.
  • This role involves routine, well defined assignments with clearly established inspection procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Document site conditions through written field notes, photographs, and inspection reports using project specific formats and electronic data collection tools, to be reviewed by senior project staff.
  • Review and prepare construction specific mitigation plans, depending on project requirements.
  • Work directly with contractors and construction personnel in the field to relay environmental requirements and observations and support timely corrective actions, under close supervision by others. Communications will be supported by the team leader or project manager as required, based on topic and interpretations.

Requirements

  • Ability to accurately observe, document, and communicate field conditions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, paperless reporting and documentation, and use of basic electronic data entry tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed, as dictated by weather and construction needs.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and ask questions while conducting field work.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements associated with utility construction compliance is considered an asset.
  • Approximately 75% travel, including extended assignments and variable schedules based on construction activities.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and around active construction operations.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet motor vehicle record requirements.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen (dependent on client requirements).
