About the role
- Conducts basic interpretation of drawings, codes, standards, and technical specifications applicable to electrical infrastructure and industrial facilities
- Assists with electrical design tasks using engineering and modeling tools to support the development of power system layouts, equipment arrangements, and electrical distribution systems under the direction of senior staff
- Performs basic calculations and layouts to support the analysis and design of electrical system components such as feeders, equipment connections, grounding systems, and electrical distribution infrastructure
- Works with project managers and technical design staff to prepare and revise engineering documentation in various project phases including site plans, equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, conduit and cable routing plans, details, and supporting calculations
- Creates and maintains electronic design files in compliance with Stantec and client standards
- Converts redline markups into updated drawing and document deliverables
- Assists with organizing, publishing, and managing drawing sets and project documentation
- Maintains drawing revisions and supports document control throughout the design process
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program for Engineering
- Valid driver’s license required
- Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus
- Ability to perform basic calculations and foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles
- Basic experience with drafting and modeling software (Autodesk AutoCAD) preferred
- Basic experience with design and modeling software (Autodesk Revit) preferred
- Basic understanding of electrical drawings including site plans, one-line diagrams, equipment layouts, and electrical details
- Familiarity with electrical power distribution systems and infrastructure design within industrial, utility, or energy facilities is preferred
- Basic experience with power system analysis software (such as ETAP, SKM, or similar) is preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of CAD-based design workflows and exposure to Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for basic calculations and data organization
- Experience reviewing or managing PDF drawing sets using tools such as Bluebeam or similar software is preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
