About the role
- Lead bridge design projects of varying size and complexity through all phases of design
- Develop design plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates
- Prepare, check, and deliver engineering calculations, reports, and technical studies
- Guide and mentor junior and intermediate staff
- Build a strong culture of quality design and teamwork
- Assist with or lead bridge inspection and load rating assignments
- Carry out constructability reviews during the design of conventionally procured projects
- Develop and present information to clients and the public
- Coordinate with clients, agencies, subconsultants, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals
- Additional duties may include assisting the transportation leadership with project pursuits and proposal preparation
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of MaineDOT, Maine Turnpike and/or NHDOT design standards and practices
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
- Experience in a bridge engineering technical lead role
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
- Effective verbal, visual, and written communication skills
- Proficient in MicroStation, MathCAD, & Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience using bridge design and analysis software (Merlin-Dash, CSiBridge, STAAD, AASHTOware, LPile, Group, LEAP-steel/concrete, etc.)
- Experience with bridge inspection and load rating
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions to others
- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering
- Master degree in Structural Engineering (desired)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience.
