About the role
- Assist with planning, design, and analysis of flood control structures, including levees, pump stations, floodwalls, floodgates, and drainage facilities
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical memoranda, and design reports
- Develop and review construction drawings and specifications under the supervision of licensed engineers
- Support construction management activities, including shop drawing review, RFIs, submittals, and field observations
- Assist with quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and schedules
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical)
- Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Support quality control and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- 2+ years of relevant experience in civil, water resources, or flood protection projects
- EI required; PE license or progress toward licensure preferred
- Experience with flood control, water resources, or civil works projects
- Familiarity with pump stations, levees, floodwalls, or hydraulic structures
- Experience working with public-sector clients (e.g., USACE, state or local agencies)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or similar engineering software
- Experience in Construction phase support or field experience
