About the role

  • Assist with planning, design, and analysis of flood control structures, including levees, pump stations, floodwalls, floodgates, and drainage facilities
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical memoranda, and design reports
  • Develop and review construction drawings and specifications under the supervision of licensed engineers
  • Support construction management activities, including shop drawing review, RFIs, submittals, and field observations
  • Assist with quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and schedules
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical)
  • Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
  • Support quality control and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in civil, water resources, or flood protection projects
  • EI required; PE license or progress toward licensure preferred
  • Experience with flood control, water resources, or civil works projects
  • Familiarity with pump stations, levees, floodwalls, or hydraulic structures
  • Experience working with public-sector clients (e.g., USACE, state or local agencies)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or similar engineering software
  • Experience in Construction phase support or field experience
