Lead the Engineering Contract Administration Team and act as Senior Contract Administrator for Alberta projects
Prepare fee proposals, budgets, and assess project staffing needs to support contract administration and field inspection services
Maintain/create/update master contract document templates to ensure compliance with latest industry specifications and standards
Maintain detailed workload schedules and staff assignments; provide senior leadership, mentoring and training of staff including performance evaluations and goal setting
Oversee tendering processes including contract preparation, contractor invitation, bid review, contractor selection and ongoing contractor coordination through construction to final assumption/acceptance
Prepare and/or review construction documents for tendering and act as Stantec’s representative during the construction phase to contractors and owners
Interpret contracts and ensure compliance with contract terms; run construction meetings and provide meeting summaries
Monitor and verify contract progress; prepare and process requests for information, change management documents, contract amendments, and evaluate contractors' submissions for changes and claims
Negotiate acceptable resolutions to contract changes and claims and process for client approval; provide senior oversight reviews during construction and coordinate subconsultants
Process contract close-outs with the client and approval agencies; prepare reports and other correspondence relating to areas of responsibility
Set up and maintain the contract in coordination with Project Controls and Project Management; provide guidance on financial and contractual matters; liaise with Clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction to facilitate certification and return of securities
Requirements
Ability to work independently or cooperatively with others on large complex projects
A thorough knowledge of construction and contracting principles, methods, procedures, and practices including contract administration relating to changes, claims and delays
A comprehensive knowledge of relevant engineering, pertinent legislation, standards, and scheduling practices/methods
Sound judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Effective interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills required to effectively handle changing priorities and project deadlines
Ability to co-ordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives
Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation
A good working knowledge of personal computers and applications relevant to the work (word processing, excel spreadsheets, mobile apps)
Ability to interpret and critique construction drawings and specifications along with extensive knowledge in inspection and contract administration of municipal engineering works, including land development projects (earthworks, sewer, watermain and road construction materials, methods and processes)
Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to prioritize multiple tasks
Graduate of an Engineering program (with P. Eng)
10-15 years or more of proven experience related to design or contract administration
