About the role
- Performs structural marine and waterfront engineering assignments that are broad and varied in nature, requiring sound application of technical codes, standards, and guidelines.
- Performs and oversees engineering planning and design assignments at key stages of projects.
- Oversees technical work, provides technical guidance, and mentoring of entry- and intermediate-level engineers
- Analyzes complex problems, modifies methods, procedures, processes and proposes new alternative solutions.
- Leads the preparation and coordination of project deliverables including contract documents.
- Responsible for the review and sealing of contract deliverables.
- Perform independent technical and quality reviews.
- Exercises initiative and independent judgment in adapting and applying procedures to address unusual situations and to resolve issues.
- Ensures Stantec’s engineering and design procedures and guidelines are consistently and correctly applied on projects, with an eye toward continuous improvement.
- Consistently executes safe work practices and work plans while completing field and office work.
- Coordinates with clients, agencies, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals
- Responsible for invoicing, managing, and monitoring financial performance of project budgets using PM dashboard access
- May write and negotiate proposals as project issues arise with clients or reviewing agencies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of ten years of relevant structural marine and waterfront structures experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in one New England state with ability to obtain licensure in other states within 6 months of employment as needed
- Highly skilled in technical and functional aspects of the role
- Proven ability in staff supervision and leadership; experience directly managing others is required
- Ability to travel frequently within the New England area as required; estimated travel: 25%
- Experience with engineering design tools such as MathCAD, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM, Microsoft Project, and structural software such as CSiBridge, Shoring Suite, and Optimoor.
- Prior experience with US Federal agency engineering and construction projects (NAVFAC, USACE, AFCEE, etc.), or similar port and marine transportation entities is a plus.
