About the role
- Create and prepare designs for plumbing and medical gas systems;
- Able to perform water, waste, gas calculations as well as product specifications;
- Coordinate and prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents;
- Design plumbing systems including water, sanitary, storm, diesel distribution, natural gas distribution, medical gas, and specialty lab gas systems;
- Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings and prepare green rating system documentation;
- Assist in spatial coordination with architecture and other engineering systems;
- Deliver projects across multiple delivery models, including design/bid/build, design assist, design build;
- Process contractor submittals and RFIs;
- Perform on site condition surveys;
- Provide mentoring and direction to junior members of the project team or engineering discipline;
- Use technology and methodologies to create innovative approaches to building design;
- Consistently strive to improve technical quality of work product by keeping abreast of new technologies, changes in building codes, and advances in the industry;
- Work collaboratively in a cross-discipline environment to produce integrated project documents, and insure integrated design approaches & solutions;
- Assist in the procurement of high-quality work; including marketing / proposal efforts and project interviews;
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to Government, Healthcare, Higher Education and Science & Technology;
- Maintain strong client relations as it pertains to project delivery and repeat business;
- Perform and maintain thorough QA/QC on all phases of projects.
Requirements
- Professional Engineering license required;
- Experience supervising a team of engineers;
- LEED AP BD+C preferred;
- Familiarity with BIM;
- Maintain technical competence by staying current on appropriate codes and technologies;
- Proficient in the use of state-of-the-art tools for engineering design and documentation, including Revit;
- Thorough understanding of plumbing engineering systems;
- Expertise in an area of concentration, such as Datacenter, Advanced Manufacturing, Science & Technology and Healthcare.
- Monitors & manages project budgets to ensure cost effective delivery;
- Effective communication skills (written and oral);
- Demonstrated thoroughness in design coordination and contract document development in plumbing systems for commercial and/or industrial buildings;
- Demonstrated record of consistent quality work;
- Able to work with little or no supervision;
- Business development capabilities, commercial/financial awareness;
- Demonstrated knowledge in sustainable building design.
