About the role
- work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a senior engineer
- Perform structural calculations and analysis of buildings and other structures
- Assist in preparing deliverable documents including drawings, specifications, and reports
- Works with and coordinates with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines
- Assist Construction Administration duties including completing field observation reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders
- Participate in project meetings; communicate design issues and solutions with the design team
- Develop an understanding of industry standard design processes and construction means and methods
- Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service
- Assist with the development of design standards
Requirements
- Basic knowledge and understanding of structural building codes and requirements
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building code and other similar material
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience including architects, engineers, and clients effectively
- Basic understanding of Revit, and the use of it as a drafting/design tool
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Bluebeam Revu; Component Design Software such as Enercalc; Finite Element Analysis Software such as RISA and SAP/ETABS
- 4 years of related experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering with an emphasis in structures is required
- NCEES EIT is preferred but not required
- Experience with earthquake seismic design or coursework is required
- Experience with Revit and other BIM 3D modelling software is preferred
- Prior internship experience at an engineering related firm is preferred
