About the role

  • work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a senior engineer
  • Perform structural calculations and analysis of buildings and other structures
  • Assist in preparing deliverable documents including drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Works with and coordinates with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines
  • Assist Construction Administration duties including completing field observation reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders
  • Participate in project meetings; communicate design issues and solutions with the design team
  • Develop an understanding of industry standard design processes and construction means and methods
  • Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service
  • Assist with the development of design standards

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of structural building codes and requirements
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building code and other similar material
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience including architects, engineers, and clients effectively
  • Basic understanding of Revit, and the use of it as a drafting/design tool
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Bluebeam Revu; Component Design Software such as Enercalc; Finite Element Analysis Software such as RISA and SAP/ETABS
  • 4 years of related experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering with an emphasis in structures is required
  • NCEES EIT is preferred but not required
  • Experience with earthquake seismic design or coursework is required
  • Experience with Revit and other BIM 3D modelling software is preferred
  • Prior internship experience at an engineering related firm is preferred
