About the role
- Works as a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer
- Develops skills in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering water resource elements for projects
- Performs civil engineering design tasks on assigned transportation and oil/natural gas related projects
- Uses knowledge of the general concepts of relevant water resources fundamentals to design drainage conveyance systems, stormwater management features, and erosion and sediment (E&S) pollution control features
- Prepares stormwater management plans, E&S pollution control plans, culvert analysis, drainage pipe and inlet design, channel design and NPDES/ESCGP/waterway permit document preparation
- Attends and assists in client/contractor/stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals
- Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and complex working drawings
Requirements
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation
- Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team
- Working knowledge of PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission design criteria preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
- Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies
- Proficient in Microstation, as well as relevant software programs which may include In Roads/Open Roads, Auto Turn, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Hydraflow Storm Sewers and Hyrdographs, HydraCAD, and StormCAD
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of water resources experience to include projects with PennDOT or the Pennsylvania Turnpike
