About the role

  • Technical Leadership & Innovation in architecture and design
  • Lead interior design teams on workplace projects
  • Collaborate on workplace interiors projects including workplace strategy, programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development and management of budgets and schedules
  • Develop space planning concepts and generate program documents
  • Participate in the selection of furniture systems and specifications
  • Provide project team coordination for finish plans, specification and material selections required for construction
  • Work with consultants, corporate real estate teams, developers, furniture dealers, product reps and fabricators to meet overall project objectives
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination
  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives and learning programs
  • Participate in business development and marketing efforts
  • Assure that design conforms to a contractual agreement with the client
  • Establish and maintain ongoing productive client relationships
  • Champion innovation in modular design, sustainability, and integrated building systems
  • Develop and maintain Stantec's architectural standards, specifications, and design guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, accessibility standards, and environmental regulations
  • Publish technical articles and contribute to thought leadership initiatives
  • Balance strategic initiatives with hands-on project execution, managing multiple priorities in parallel
  • Lead site planning, building layout, and integration of architectural systems across multiple disciplines

Requirements

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of materials, detailing and construction techniques
  • Designer of multiple award-winning projects
  • Proven design leadership skills with particular emphasis on mentoring and teaching
  • Proven appreciation and commitment to expertise driven design solutions
  • Strong business acumen and an understanding of expertise within the firm
  • Successful at building and managing client relationships
  • Experienced presenter with an interest and passion for public speaking
  • Proficiency in Revit, Enscape and other modeling software programs
  • Knowledge and understanding of database software including Excel and/or Tableau
  • Proficient in Adobe Create Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustator, InDesign)
  • Strong knowledge of the design process
  • Understand furniture finishes, materials, color selections and specifications
  • Experience with construction document preparation
  • Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas to internal and external clients
  • Leadership, organizational, communication and relationship management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design or related field
  • 10 years of experience as an interior designer with a focus on workplace projects
  • Registered Interior Designer
