About the role

  • Working on a variety of small to large projects with the focus on transportation & infrastructure, and in diverse areas including tunnelling, power, mining, residential, commercial, and industrial developments, water and wastewater, transmission and distribution systems for electricity, and oil and gas
  • Collaborating with our staff and providing technical direction to complete Geotechnical Engineering design/analysis, providing engineering recommendations, and preparing Geotechnical reports to address trenchless construction, deep and shallow foundation design, slope stability assessment, settlement analysis, soil improvement, etc.
  • Preparing proposals (developing scopes and budgets)
  • Reviewing project documents for technical accuracy and competency
  • Managing multiple geotechnical projects
  • Managing clients and contractors
  • Overseeing work performed by Technicians, Engineering Graduates, and Engineers

Requirements

  • Proven commitment to safety
  • Demonstrated project experience working on the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) transportation & infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of local bylaws and design codes, including the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and the Ministry of Transportation Ontario policies, procedures, and guidelines about transportation and infrastructure work
  • Proven client, sub-consultant, and contractor management experience
  • Proficiency with geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio™, RocScience, LPile, Settle 3D, etc.)
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel as a tool for data collation, reduction, and analysis
  • Excellent organizational ability, report writing, and verbal communication
  • Experience with supervising, guiding, developing, and mentoring junior staff
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university
  • A master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering with specific emphasis on advanced soil mechanics and numerical analysis is an asset
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering design and consulting
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing with the Professional Engineers Ontario association or eligible for registration if transferring from another province.
