Senior Historic Tax Credits (HTC) consultant supporting federal and state HTC applications and advising developers, property owners, investors, and architects
Prepare federal and state HTC certification applications (Parts 1–3 and state equivalents)
Conduct historical and architectural research, site documentation, and field verification to support applications
Review design and construction plans for conformance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation
Coordinate with internal teams, architects, contractors, and owners to gather documentation and meet deadlines
Draft reports, narratives, and visual materials (maps, photographs, drawings) for submission
Develop work plans, scopes, cost estimates, and schedules and prepare project documents
Interact with clients, agencies, and project stakeholders and support responses to SHPO/NPS comments
Contribute to proposals, presentations, and thought leadership to strengthen HTC services
Support National Register nominations, preservation plans, historic structure reports, HABS/HAER documentation, mitigation planning, and special projects
Maintain organized project files, track milestones, and follow HSSE and design delivery guidelines
Demonstrate commitment to Stantec’s code of business conduct and ethics
Requirements
In-depth knowledge of the federal HTC program, state HTC programs, and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards
Ability to interpret architectural drawings and specifications
Strong technical writing and editing skills with attention to detail
Excellent research and documentation abilities, including archival and online sources
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office; GIS experience a plus
Effective communicator able to translate technical concepts for clients and reviewers
Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Collaborative team player with a consulting mindset and client-service orientation
Must be willing to travel to meet project needs
Requires valid driver’s license and good driving record
Bachelor’s degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, Architecture, Planning, or related field (Master’s preferred)
5+ years’ professional experience in HTC consulting with application preparation experience
