About the role

  • The successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team of design and engineering professionals to deliver projects.
  • You will be a key member of the electrical team working with various clients in completing feasibility studies and detailed engineering projects.
  • You will be responsible for applying engineering knowledge and professional judgement acquired through experience to plan, size, evaluate, select, and specify electrical systems in accordance with relevant codes, standards and industry best practices.
  • You will perform a variety of tasks which may include conducting field investigations, liaising with clients, carrying out detailed planning studies, preparing design calculations, authoring technical reports, delivering presentations to stakeholders, leading the development of construction packages (drawings and technical specifications), estimating construction costs, monitoring and supporting construction, participating in commissioning, and contributing to business development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineering license is required.
  • 5+ years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, particularly surface or underground mining.
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable design codes and familiarity with Mine Safety and Health Administration Regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Previous experience as a Lead Engineer on detailed engineering/construction projects with a consulting firm or Owner’s team is an asset.
