About the role
- Translate general project requirements into working electrical designs using 2D/3D CAD software.
- Produce detailed design drawings for power plant construction: one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical equipment arrangements, conduit/cable raceways, underground duct banks, and installation details.
- Ensure designs align with project specifications, industry standards, and quality control processes.
- Incorporate equipment suppliers’ submittals into electrical designs.
- __Collaboration__:
- Work closely with electrical engineers
- Integrate electrical designs into multi-disciplinary models (e.g., mechanical, structural) for seamless project coordination
- Solicit technical input from equipment and material suppliers
- Participate in design reviews, ensuring accuracy and quality of electrical designs to meet project requirements and industry standards
- Coordinate with the engineering team to resolve design-related issues and support construction activities
- Complete drawings from conceptual development, design phases, and construction to as-built
- Provide drafting support on other disciplines' drawings as needed
- Assist in training junior technicians and designers
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years in electrical drafting/design and 3D modeling for power generation or similar industrial environment
- Certificate or associate degree in CADD, drafting, engineering technology, or related field
- Experience in power generation or heavy industrial electrical design
- Proficient in interpreting NEC (National Electric Code) Standards
- Good understanding of what is required for project set-up and start-up
- Familiarity with power plant construction standards and processes
- Proficiency in 2D/3D AutoCAD and 2D/3D Microstation with a strong focus on electrical system design
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers and other stakeholders
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design challenges in a fast-paced environment
