About the role
- Provide technical feedback to New Product Design teams for metal parts manufacturability (DFM), using forming simulation as needed
- Work with Industrial Design Team on Manufacturing Feasibility Concepts
- Provide stamping tool and piece price estimates for various manufacturing options to establish initial budgeting costs
- Manage new tool builds from start to completion: Establish and provide request for quote details to tool suppliers
- Work with production locations on tooling requirements and approvals
- Progress tracking, tool sampling, and quality reporting
- Design and detail steel stamping dies and concepts as needed
- Provide technical support to internal and external stamping locations
- Work with tool rooms and production facilities to ensure parts and tools meet quality standards
- Research and implement new manufacturing ideas and concepts
- Excellent verbal and written communication with all manufacturing and tooling facilities
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed. 10%
Requirements
- BS Degree or equivalent work experience in Metal Stamping / Mechanical Engineering
- Proficient with NX, Catia or similar CAD software
- Proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Metal forming simulation experience is a plus
- Knowledge of various Sheet Metal Manufacturing processes
- Progressive and Single Hit stamping tools
- Laser and water jet cutting, press brake forming, etc.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, process improvements, and troubleshooting stamping tooling
- Knowledge of tool manufacturing processes (CNC / EDM)
- Proactive project management of multiple projects to meet schedules
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High-integrity team member with a strong work ethic and positive, self-motivated, can-do attitude
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed. 10%
