About the role

  • Own the long-term technical vision and strategy for major components of our platform
  • Design and champion new system architectures that focus on clear, stable interfaces and domain decoupling
  • Establish and improve engineering excellence standards
  • Proactively identify, define, and lead complex, ambiguous, and high-risk technical programs
  • Cut through organizational and technical complexity, making clear, pragmatic technical trade-offs
  • Deliver technically deep, cross-cutting software solutions
  • Drive deep-dive root cause analyses for critical, cross-domain production issues
  • Mentor and coach Senior and Mid-Level engineers to increase overall efficiency and quality

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale, complex projects spanning multiple engineering teams
  • At least 1 year of experience as a staff engineer in a large software organization
  • Deep expertise in architecting, developing, and operating distributed, highly-reliable, and scalable systems
  • Proven ability to influence technical direction without direct authority
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • A relentless drive to reduce complexity
  • Fluency in core stack (React, Typescript, Node.js, Python, C++, Kubernetes)
