Clinical Coder

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for assigning accurate and timely clinical codes to patient episodes of care at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside
- Involves analysis of patient record documentation and using the appropriate version of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Australian Modification (ICD10AM)
- Applying Australian Coding Standards and relevant State Coding authority advice
- Participate in ongoing training and education sessions and ongoing audits
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent, or Clinical Coding qualifications from HIMAA or equivalent.
- At least two years clinical coding experience.
- Previous experience with 3M Codefinder software.
- Experience in clinical coding across a range of DRGs with demonstrated high quality coding skills.
- Up to date knowledge of Clinical Coding guidelines and Australian Coding Standards and be prepared to participate in performance and quality improvement activities.
