About the role
- responsible for assigning accurate and timely clinical codes to patient episodes of care through analysis of patient record documentation
- using the appropriate version of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Australian Modification (ICD10AM)
- applying Australian Coding Standards and relevant State Coding authority advice
- involved with ongoing training and education sessions
- participate in ongoing audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent, or Clinical Coding qualifications from HIMAA or equivalent.
- At least two years clinical coding experience.
- Previous experience with 3M Codefinder software.
- Experience in clinical coding across a range of DRGs with demonstrated high quality coding skills.
- Up to date knowledge of Clinical Coding guidelines and Australian Coding Standards and be prepared to participate in performance and quality improvement activities.
