About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient medical records with recent test results and correspondence
- Complete pre-charting of value-based pieces up to five days before appointments
- Send messages to the Care Team when warranted
- Prepare patients for examinations and escort them to exam rooms
- Record height, weight, vital signs, medications, allergies, personal/family/social history, smoking status, and reason for visit
- Capture demographic information
- Provide patient care services including room cleaning, clinical supply maintenance, instrument cleaning and autoclaving, and injections or immunizations within State guidelines
- Communicate and coordinate with providers and the Care Team regarding discharges, emergency visits, consulting physicians, resources, disease management, education, labs, testing, and specialist visits
- Participate in department activities, meetings, problem resolution, and procedure analysis
- Dispose of bio-hazardous and regular waste according to practice protocol
- Maintain vaccine temperature logs, inventory, medical supply ordering, expired medication disposal, and room stocking
- Perform administrative tasks including check-in, check-out, and opening and closing office procedures
- Bring improvement suggestions to Practice Managers and Providers
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Complete the 30/60/90-day onboarding checklist where applicable
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School degree or equivalent required
- One year of clinical experience OR graduate of Medical Assistant program required
- Two years of experience in a similar healthcare setting preferred
- Customer service experience strongly preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification or certification within 60 days of hire through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to occasionally push wheelchairs with patients weighing up to 325 pounds
- Full legal name and current home address required in application
- Employment history for the past seven years, including present employer
- Current resume including work history, education, certifications, and licenses encouraged
