Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide nursing care for high-risk neonates and infants through the nursing process
  • Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and document the effects of care
  • Work cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel
  • Maintain standards for professional nursing practice
  • Maintain confidentiality of materials handled within the Network/Entity and ensure proper release of information
  • Demonstrate the Network’s Service Excellence Standards in interactions with internal and external customers
  • Comply with Network and departmental attendance and dress-code policies
  • Demonstrate competency in age-appropriate assessment, treatment, growth and development knowledge, and communication
  • Complete the NICU RN internship under supervision of the NICU Internship coordinator
  • Upon successful completion, practice in a St. Luke’s NICU caring for patients across the unit

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Nursing students with prospective Spring/Summer/Winter graduation dates who will be eligible to sit for NCLEX and obtain licensure before the internship starts
  • Nursing Student/GN candidates must have employment experience working in a NICU or a scheduled Senior Practicum in NICU
  • Experienced RNs who have not worked in the NICU setting may apply
  • Registered Nurse with current license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania
  • Maintain current BLS certification
  • Successfully complete the Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 1 year
  • Ability to assess, treat, and communicate appropriately according to the patient’s age and development
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, reach, crawl, finger, handle, grasp, twist, and turn as specified
  • Ability to transport patients weighing up to 250 lbs. with assistance when appropriate
  • Ability to hear normal conversation and high and low frequencies
  • Ability to see general, near, far, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and visual monotony
