About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide individualized family-centered care during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods
- Coordinate and provide individualized quality patient care using assessment, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation
- Formulate collaborative and individualized plans of care and identify expected patient outcomes using the nursing process and patient birth plan
- Work cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel to maintain professional nursing practice standards
- Maintain confidentiality and properly release information
- Demonstrate the Network’s Service Excellence Standards in interactions with internal and external customers
- Comply with Network and departmental attendance and dress-code policies
- Demonstrate age-appropriate competency in assessment, treatment, growth and development, and communication
- Complete the Labor and Delivery RN Internship across various St. Luke’s University Health Network sites under the internship coordinator’s supervision
- Upon successful completion, practice in a St. Luke’s Labor and Delivery Department caring for patients across their lifespans
Requirements
What you’ll need- Nursing student with prospective Spring, Summer, or Winter graduation date who will be eligible to sit for NCLEX and obtain licensure before the internship starts
- Nursing student/graduate nurse must have employment experience working in an L&D unit, a scheduled Senior Practicum in an L&D unit, or a minimum 3.2 GPA
- Experienced RN applicants must not have worked in the L&D setting
- Maintain current BLS certification
- Registered Nurse with current license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania
- Ability to perform the stated physical and sensory requirements, including standing up to 10 hours per day, walking up to 6 hours per day, occasional lifting/pushing up to 75 lbs, and transporting patients weighing up to 500 lbs
- Complete application using full legal name and current home address
- Include employment history for the past seven years, including present employer
