About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work under the supervision of the professional licensed nurse, performing clinical and clerical functions within the behavioral inpatient service
- Maintain clinical records of all patient contact according to hospital policy and regulatory guidelines
- Follow treatment plans as directed by licensed personnel
- Assist with the admission and discharge processes and document pertinent information
- Support patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, nutrition, elimination, ambulation, and physical mobility
- Obtain and record vital signs and intake/output; perform glucometry, phlebotomy, and EKGs; collect diagnostic specimens
- Monitor the therapeutic environment through safety checks, patient observations, and continual rounding
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment and ensure client safety and rule compliance
- Collaborate with treatment team members and communicate patient-condition or unit-milieu changes
- Facilitate recreational and therapeutic activities, dialogue with family members and clients, and resolve conflicts
- Participate in the Control Team for agitated or violent patients requiring seclusion or restraints
- For Detox/Rehab roles, provide transportation, identify and respond to alcohol/opiate/benzodiazepine withdrawal, deescalate crises, assist with problem solving and conflict resolution, and facilitate psycho-educational groups
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Graduate/GED required
- BA/BS in human services or current BA/BS student in Nursing, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or security field preferred
- BHT Float Pool: two years of previous experience in mental health or medical setting required
- BHT: two years of previous experience in mental health or medical setting preferred
- Recovery Center BHT: two years of previous experience in crisis management, human-service-related, or supervisory experience preferred
- CPR certification required within 60 days of hire
- MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) Verbal De-escalation Certification Training required within 90 days of hire
- Recovery Center BHT must maintain a valid driver’s license accepted by the Network’s insurance carrier and a good driving record
- Knowledge of addictions and behavioral health disorders preferred
- Ability to complete the initial 6 business days of classroom orientation followed by unit orientation
- Ability to meet stated physical and sensory requirements, including standing, walking, patient transport, pushing, bending, reaching, hearing, and vision
