About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Materials & Process Engineers supporting both production programs and R&D / demonstrator development
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and coach new engineers, fostering technical growth and cross‑functional collaboration
  • Prioritize workload across production support, qualification/approval tasks, R&D projects, and demonstrator milestones
  • Oversee material and process engineering support for active production, including composite materials, adhesives, coatings, and metallic processes
  • Ensure compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards
  • Provide direction on material approvals, deviations, MRB dispositions, and corrective actions
  • Drive process improvements to increase robustness, reduce variability, and support cost-out initiatives
  • Guide new material development projects, including testing, prototyping, and early application of advanced composite systems
  • Collaborate closely with Quality, Production, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and external research partners
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks associated with new materials, process changes, and production disruptions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in materials engineering, composite engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related field
  • Experience with composite material systems, testing (physical, chemical, mechanical), and manufacturing processes
  • Prior leadership experience strongly preferred, including mentoring or managing engineering staff
  • Strong analytical skill set and familiarity with specification development and material qualification
  • Ability to integrate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain functions
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to present technical content to stakeholders
  • Highly organized with strong sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
