About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Examine, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions in emergency medicine
- Develop treatment plans using established protocols and current evidence-based guidelines
- Manage acute and emergent medical conditions, injuries, lacerations, and some fractures
- Perform minor surgical procedures
- Order and interpret tests, analyses, and diagnostic images
- Prescribe or recommend medications and therapeutic procedures
- Provide patient education and promote wellness and illness prevention
- Coordinate on-site and referral-based medical services
- Document patient care accurately and promptly in the EMR
- Provide emergency department coverage during assigned shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights
- Rotate between Madras, Prineville, and Redmond while maintaining credentials at all facilities
- Participate in physician meetings and assist with policy formation
- Maintain current medical knowledge, licenses, certifications, board eligibility/certification, and hospital privileges
- Collaborate with physicians, caregivers, patients, families, and health care professionals to ensure optimal patient care
- Create a safe, healing, professional, and confidential care environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduation from an accredited medical school
- Successful completion of an accredited residency program in the chosen specialty
- Completion of additional education required to acquire and maintain clinical privileges
- Board eligibility or certification in the practiced specialty
- Current MD or DO license
- Board certified or eligible in the chosen specialty
- Unrestricted Federal DEA number
- Unrestricted ability to participate in Medicare/Medicaid and other governmental health care programs
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet SCHS driving requirements
- ACLS certification required
- Additional certifications as required by granted privileges
- Experience in hospital practice environments providing Emergency Medicine care
- Experience using EMR software
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in a team environment and collaborating with health care professionals and agencies
- Ability to work in a single-coverage Emergency Department environment
- Ability to work in three different locations and maintain credentials at all facilities
- Ability to work variable day, swing, and night shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Must maintain current and unrestricted licenses and appropriate certifications
- Must maintain active privileges at a St. Charles Health System hospital
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Electronic Medical Record systems
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Outstanding diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and maintain accurate records
- Familiarity with traditional and web-based prescription systems
- Preferred: two years active practice in Emergency Medicine
- Preferred: Epic EMR software experience
- Preferred: Federal DEA number registered in Oregon
