About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes according to clinical documentation and official coding guidelines for inpatient hospital accounts
  • Coordinate with clinical documentation and quality teams to validate MSDRG, patient safety indicators, and hospital acquired conditions through physician documentation
  • Monitor assigned work queues to ensure records are charged in a timely manner
  • Generate coding queries to clarify physician documentation as needed
  • Stay current with changes in coding conventions and coding updates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • No experience required
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - AHIMA, or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) - AAPC, or Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) - AAPC, or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - AHIMA, or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - AHIMA
  • Knowledge of inpatient hospital coding guidelines, clinical documentation, coding conventions, and coding updates
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry
  • Ability to perform the listed physical requirements, including lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 50 lbs occasionally and 0-25 lbs frequently
