About the role

  • Lead Technical Design & Product Line Ownership
  • Serve as a technical authority for heat transfer product design, establishing and maintaining design standards and best practices.
  • Perform advanced thermal-fluid, structural, and manufacturability analyses; act as a final approver for complex engineering decisions.
  • Develop and release complete engineering packages, ensuring compliance with ASME, UL, IIAR, and AHRI codes.
  • Drive innovation by leading feasibility studies, concept development, and early-phase technology evaluations.
  • Oversee Product Development, Portfolio Execution & Engineering Planning
  • Lead multiple NPD and VA/VE programs from concept through launch, ensuring schedule, budget, and quality adherence.
  • Forecast and plan engineering resources for assigned product lines; align work plans with business priorities.
  • Develop engineering KPIs and report progress related to quality, cycle time, and productivity.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, standardization, and design optimization across product families.
  • Provide Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Alignment
  • Lead design reviews and act as the primary engineering interface with Manufacturing, Sourcing, Product Management, Sales, and Customer Support.
  • Communicate technical risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to stakeholders to support high-quality decision making.
  • Support vendor selection through technical bid evaluations and oversee successful integration of new components and technologies.
  • Represent Engineering in customer discussions, escalations, and strategic supplier engagements when expert guidance is required.
  • Mentor, Develop, & Guide Engineer Teams Driving Continuous Improvement
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing technical coaching and guidance on analysis methods, codes, and design best practices.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including root-cause investigations, standardization efforts, and process enhancements.
  • Oversee engineering documentation, configuration control, and quality of technical outputs for assigned programs.
  • Champion the development and maintenance of design tools, templates, and engineering rule libraries.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience, with a Bachelors degree, or 5+ years of experience, with a Masters degree
  • Experience with solids-based CAD/CAM software
  • Knowledge and experience with codes in the HVAC&R industry, including but not limited to: Pressure vessel and piping codes (ASME BPVC Section VIII, ASME BPVC Section IX, ASME B31.5); Refrigeration systems safety standards (UL 207, UL 60334-2-40, ASHRAE 15); IIAR Ammonia and CO2 standards; Certification and Regulation: AHRI 420, California Title 24
  • Solid theoretical knowledge and sound engineering judgement; good track record of developing from concept to viable real-world solutions
  • Strong communication skills
