Junior Designer

Communications

• Assist in the daily management of social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Bluesky, etc.).
• Maintain and update the content calendar in coordination with the Communications team.
• Assist with drafting and editing posts, news updates, and multimedia content (including short videos, graphics, and captions).
• Monitor social media trends and audience insights to optimize engagement and strategy.
• Track metrics and performance analytics across channels.
• Engage with followers and respond to messages to foster an active community.
• Support communications administration, including organizing assets, scheduling posts, and maintaining archives.
• Assist with drafting media content such as bios, speaker introductions, and press materials.
• Collaborate with the Design and Science teams on storytelling campaigns and visual content.
• Help maintain internal tools for communications (Google Drive, Notion, shared folders, etc.).
• Assist with general administrative tasks for the Communications department.
• Assist with project management related to website updates, such as adding new team members or removing former ones.
• Manage general organizational inboxes (e.g., hello@spun, careers@spun etc) and route inquiries appropriately.

Communications Assistant

Account Manager

• Proactively identify and qualify potential partners in conservation, restoration, agriculture, climate mitigation, biodiversity monitoring and reporting, technology, and related sectors.
• Lead initial conversations and needs assessments to determine alignment and mutual value.
• Design partnership frameworks that leverage SPUN's scientific capabilities (data, methodologies, research networks) to address partner priorities.
• Draft, negotiate, and finalize partnership agreements, MOUs, and collaborative frameworks.
• Independently represent SPUN in high-level partnership discussions with senior leaders from NGOs, corporations, technology companies, and international organizations.
• Manage a pipeline of partnership opportunities from initial contact through formalization and implementation.
• Track and communicate partnership outcomes, particularly regarding data integration and on-the-ground impact.
• Work closely with the Chief Strategy & Operations Officer to align partnership strategy with organizational priorities.
• Translate SPUN's scientific outputs into compelling value propositions for different partner types.
• Identify opportunities to integrate mycorrhizal data and methodologies into existing frameworks (e.g., MRV systems, carbon accounting standards, conservation protocols, biodiversity monitoring and reporting systems, technology platforms).
• Explore technology partnerships that could enhance data accessibility, analysis, or application.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure partnership deliverables are feasible and well-executed.
• Monitor partnership performance and adapt strategies based on outcomes.
• Contribute to funding proposals where partnership expertise strengthens the narrative.
• Support board engagement on partnership strategy and key opportunities.
• Represent SPUN at conferences, convenings, and public forums.

Head of Strategic Partnerships

Journalist

• Research, report, and write science-based stories that highlight UEP discoveries, fieldwork, and impact
• Pitch feature stories, interviews, and op-eds to reputable media outlets—particularly across Latin America and other regions of the Global South
• Conduct interviews with UEP scientists and translate technical findings into accessible, engaging content for general audiences
• Develop articles, multimedia pieces, and story packages for the SPUN website, newsletters, and external publications
• Collaborate with SPUN’s Communications team to ensure narrative consistency and scientific accuracy across platforms
• Support the production of short-format documentaries, podcasts, or multimedia spotlights that showcase UEP scientists’ work in the field
• Build and maintain relationships with editors, reporters, and science desks globally, with emphasis on Spanish-speaking media
• Secure media features, interviews, and speaking opportunities that elevate UEP scientists and their contributions to environmental science
• Develop a consistent UEP presence across digital channels, ensuring stories reach both academic and public audiences
• Track and report on communications outcomes (e.g., number of publications, interviews, social media reach, and speaking opportunities)
• Design systems to assess the impact of increased media visibility on UEP scientists’ recognition and collaborations.
