About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide professional and technical direction across the full range of financial and other services
  • Use technical accounting expertise to manage and implement change programmes
  • Review current processes within the wider finance teams
  • Ensure controls enable a clean year-end statutory reporting process
  • Partner with Internal Auditors to support implementation of recommendations
  • Work with Senior Business Partners and the Procurement Manager to identify and understand different working practices
  • Oversee the Balance Sheet reconciliation process
  • Act as the key contact for VAT treatment and work with external VAT advisors
  • Produce reports for the board, committees, and management teams
  • Contribute as a senior Finance department member to delivery of departmental objectives supporting Action for Children’s mission

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualified Accountant or equivalent qualification with demonstrable technical proficiency
  • Experience working with the public sector or an organisation that provides delivery contracts to customers
  • Experience with a new system implementation, preferably Oracle, and streamlining processes around the system
  • Experience working at senior level and partnering with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrable understanding and application of EDI policies in the workplace
  • Demonstrable project management skills
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills to build relationships and communicate complex technical financial matters to a range of stakeholders
  • DBS Basic vetting required
  • Unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role
