About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide professional and technical direction across the full range of financial and other services
Use technical accounting expertise to manage and implement change programmes
Review current processes within the wider finance teams
Ensure controls enable a clean year-end statutory reporting process
Partner with Internal Auditors to support implementation of recommendations
Work with Senior Business Partners and the Procurement Manager to identify and understand different working practices
Oversee the Balance Sheet reconciliation process
Act as the key contact for VAT treatment and work with external VAT advisors
Produce reports for the board, committees, and management teams
Contribute as a senior Finance department member to delivery of departmental objectives supporting Action for Children’s mission

Requirements

What you’ll need

Qualified Accountant or equivalent qualification with demonstrable technical proficiency
Experience working with the public sector or an organisation that provides delivery contracts to customers
Experience with a new system implementation, preferably Oracle, and streamlining processes around the system
Experience working at senior level and partnering with senior stakeholders
Demonstrable understanding and application of EDI policies in the workplace
Demonstrable project management skills
Demonstrable interpersonal skills to build relationships and communicate complex technical financial matters to a range of stakeholders
DBS Basic vetting required
