About the role

  • Provide individualised support to young people aged 5–23 with disabilities, following child-led care plans
  • Support young people in community activities (parks, swimming, bowling, cinema, shopping, public transport, cafes, clubs, museums)
  • Deliver personal care, emotional support and maintain a clean, safe and nurturing environment
  • Run and facilitate activities at the Community Hub for small groups (arts & crafts, life skills)
  • Help young people understand boundaries and relationships and act as a consistent adult role model
  • Manage challenging behaviour with patience, compassion and consistency
  • Work rota over 7 days providing direct support hours; travel within community as required
  • Contribute to care planning and support families to build resilience

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust
  • Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families
  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role
  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or be prepared to complete this within 2 years
  • PVG Adult & Children vetting (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) or equivalent
  • Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
