About the role
- Provide individualised support to young people aged 5–23 with disabilities, following child-led care plans
- Support young people in community activities (parks, swimming, bowling, cinema, shopping, public transport, cafes, clubs, museums)
- Deliver personal care, emotional support and maintain a clean, safe and nurturing environment
- Run and facilitate activities at the Community Hub for small groups (arts & crafts, life skills)
- Help young people understand boundaries and relationships and act as a consistent adult role model
- Manage challenging behaviour with patience, compassion and consistency
- Work rota over 7 days providing direct support hours; travel within community as required
- Contribute to care planning and support families to build resilience
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust
- Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families
- Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting
- Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role
- Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or be prepared to complete this within 2 years
- PVG Adult & Children vetting (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) or equivalent
- Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
