Senior Accounting Consultant – Technical Controller
Spotter LabsSenior Accounting Consultant in fully remote position for a fast-growing trucking startup. Leading US GAAP compliance during a pivotal growth phase with focus on financial oversight.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Anchor accounting function during growth and transformation
- Review and manage Right-of-Use assets and lease liabilities for compliance
- Oversee PPE accounting, refine and enforce capitalization policies
- Review complex transactions and ensure audit readiness
- Partner with leadership to strengthen accrual methodologies
- Establish and enforce reconciliation standards and review controls
- Prepare detailed audit schedules for compliance with US GAAP
- Actively participate in software migration and workflow design
- Assess financial risk and implement improvements to internal controls
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, Financial Auditor, or Assistant Controller with deep, hands-on expertise in US GAAP, specifically including ASC 842 and complex capitalization policies.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and required experience with QuickBooks Online.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- CPA or CIA designation is highly preferred.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret complex financial data and apply high-level accounting judgment.
- Strong organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage shifting timelines, and thrive in a fully remote environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of educating staff on policies and presenting clear findings to external auditors and leadership.
