About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop a partnership between student participants and their families
Help participants set reachable goals for their own self-reliance
Offer encouragement, and explore challenges and opportunities to identify solutions for themselves
Coordinate services and ensure that they are aligned and integrated with participants’ needs and goals
Conduct outreach to students and families.
Cultivate and forge positive relationships with Principal, teachers, parents and community.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work
Must have passion for New York Edge mission and demonstrated interest in the field of education and youth development
Reliable, organized and punctual
Demonstrated experience working with NYC youth, families, teachers and community members of diverse backgrounds within a positive youth development framework
Solid understanding of New York City and New York State education requirements in an urban setting
Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate solutions
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff and school partners
Must demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Bilingual: Fluent in Spanish highly preferred.
