About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop a partnership between student participants and their families
- Help participants set reachable goals for their own self-reliance
- Offer encouragement, and explore challenges and opportunities to identify solutions for themselves
- Coordinate services and ensure that they are aligned and integrated with participants’ needs and goals
- Conduct outreach to students and families.
- Cultivate and forge positive relationships with Principal, teachers, parents and community.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work
- Must have passion for New York Edge mission and demonstrated interest in the field of education and youth development
- Reliable, organized and punctual
- Demonstrated experience working with NYC youth, families, teachers and community members of diverse backgrounds within a positive youth development framework
- Solid understanding of New York City and New York State education requirements in an urban setting
- Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate solutions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff and school partners
- Must demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Bilingual: Fluent in Spanish highly preferred.
