About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop a partnership between student participants and their families
Help participants set reachable goals for their own self-reliance
Provide or facilitate access to services needed to reach these goals
Offer encouragement and explore challenges and opportunities to identify solutions
Maintain an emotionally and physically safe environment for youth
Identify needs of the targeted students, apply interventions, and monitor input and impact of interventions
Monitor and track daily, weekly, and monthly attendance
Identify high need students and coordinate with teachers to target interventions
Facilitate alliances and partnerships with City agencies and non-profit partners
Support resource management and development including fund development and grant maintenance
Provide holistic assessment, creation, and implementation of a Family Development Plan (FDP)

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work
Must have passion for New York Edge mission and demonstrated interest in the field of education and youth development
Prior work experience in urban education
Experience in using appropriate resources and working with NYC systems, such as public assistance, child welfare, education, and housing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families and school partners including school administration and staff
Must be available for all hours of the program on a daily basis
Bilingual: Fluent in Spanish highly preferred
Family Development Coach certification within one year of hiring
