About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee 6–8 after-school programs across K–12 schools in the five boroughs
  • Ensure high-quality operations and program success
  • Supervise Program Directors and ensure contract compliance
  • Develop and implement curriculum and enrichment activities
  • Recruit and train staff, manage schedules and budgets
  • Support special events
  • Serve as the primary liaison between New York Edge, school principals, funders, and internal teams
  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate program quality and provide feedback
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure strong partnerships and effective communication
  • Address parent concerns and manage incidents as needed
  • Promote professional growth of Program Directors and staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Education, Psychology, or Social Work preferred)
  • Minimum of 18 college credits in Education from an accredited institution
  • Prior supervisory experience in urban education; teaching or afterschool management preferred
  • Completion of the 15-hour OCFS Health and Safety course within three months of hire (required for DOHMH compliance)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities
  • Knowledge of curriculum design, program evaluation, and fiscal planning
  • Familiarity with DOE/public school systems and city, state, and federal funding for afterschool programs
  • Understanding of sports, arts, and academic enrichment programming
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to youth development, equity, and New York Edge’s mission
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and adaptable to remote work environments.
